Artist statement
I develop the theme of personal mythology, working with fantastic plots and symbolism of the unconscious in my art practice. Each project contains the main character who either tells a personal story or creates a fictional world around himself with other creatures with their own laws. At the same time, each project is an attempt to visualize the inner world of the hero, which remains a mystery even when meeting a person. The field of research includes different levels of character study — the history of his family, dreams, daily routine, key moments of life. I invite the viewer to reveal all aspects of the protagonist’s personality, objectifying the feelings and experiences inherent in everyone in the proposed artistic form. Through the Character, the viewer can look deep into himself,
his own personality and go “down the stairs” into the “dark basement” and find there a “dusty treasure.”

An important part of my artistic research is the desire to explore the experience of life of the Other, the creature who is different from the usual routine, from similarity. The analysis of struggle, self-acceptance and acceptance by society plays the key role.
The materials are consistent with the ancient idea of the unconscious — they are durable. Ceramics, oil on canvas, wood, textiles... Avoiding the use of plastic is a kind of manifesto for traditionalism. These objects can be passed on from generation to generation, acquiring new myths and legends.
